Following the success of the soundtrack from the first Silent Hill, Akira Yamaoka returns with an even better effort. Silent Hill 2 is considered by many as having the best soundtrack in the series. The soundtracks starts with "Theme of Laura", one of the single best tunes in the series and the main theme from Silent Hill 2, which is played in its majority with a guitar and some reminiscences of "Silent Hill" from the first game. Among the best tracks on the disc are "Ordinary Vanity", "Promise (Reprise)", "Heaven's Night", the hard "Angel's Thanatos", the melancholic "Magdalene" and "True", and "Laura Plays the Piano".

With fewer tracks than the first Silent Hill soundtrack, this time the soundtrack is better arranged and more enjoyable to listen. Silent Hill 2 Original Soundtrack is a must have for any Silent Hill fan.
